### Electrical Transformer

Transformer:-
A transformer is a static device. No mechanical part in transformer. Transformer always works on A.C. Supply, It is not work on D.C.Supply.

Working principle of a Transformer:-
A transformer operates on the principle of mutual inductance, between inductively coupled coils. Basically two coil in transformer. One is called primary winding and second is called secondary winding. When current through primary winding then EMF is induced in  that winding and also induced flux and that flux is linked with secondary winding and then EMF is induced in secondary winding.

Transformer works like above principal.

Basically two type of transformer (voltage transformer).
(1) step-up transformer
(2) step-down transformer

When transformer convert low voltage to high voltage is called step-up transformer.

When transformer convert high voltage to low voltage is called step-down transformer.

KIRCHHOFF’S LAWS

First Law (KCL: Kirchhoff’s Current Law):-
“The sum of the currents entering a junction is equal to the sum of the currents leaving the junction.”

i.e.,                              sum of currents entering = sum of currents leaving

i1 -i2 +i3 -i4 -i5 =0

i1+i3 = i2+i4+i5

Second Law (KVL: Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law):-
“The sum of e.m.f. (rise of potential) around any closed loop of a circuit equals the sum of the potential drops in that loop”.
i.e.,                              sum of e.m.f – sum of IR drops =0
sum of e.m.f. =sum of IR drops
